UMass 5K Annual Dash & Dine Timeline
In the wake of the Haitian earthquakes, UMass Dining hosted the first-annual 5k Dash & Dine to raise money to help Haiti, promote health and fitness at the university community, and foster appreciation for the campus. An authentic Haitian lunch and health fair followed the race, and participants were encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Amherst Survival Center.
The second-annual UMass 5k Dash & Dine occurred on March 26th, 2011 with proceeds benefitting the Amherst Survival Center. Sabine Holub, wife of former UMass Amherst Chancellor Robert C. Holub, participated as the honorary chair of the event.
The third-annual UMass 5k Dash & Dine occurred on April 21st, 2012. The walk/run was held to raise money for the Amherst Survival Center with great success. As always, participants received a free meal and partook in raffles after the race!
On April 6th, 2013, UMass Dining hosted the fourth-annual 5k Dash & Dine! Held to promote health and fitness at the university, as well as to raise money for the Amherst Survival Center, many participants dressed in costumes ranging from zombies to Batman!
On the heels of four successful 5K events, UMass Dining is hosting our fifth-annual 5K Dash & Dine on Saturday, April 12th 2014! Open to the campus community and the general public, the run/walk is held to raise funds for our neighbors in need at the Amherst Survival Center. Register today - costumes optional!
